We’ll need to wait until the suspense API lands to see if it can replace my saving/loading patterns in Redux. One thing you need to understand is that hooks aren’t meant to replace redux stores nor are they used for global store management. When comparing development time, you can relate it to reducing application size by avoiding the installation of redux and react-redux libraries. At least – I’m going to try hooks first on my next project, before just jumping into Redux. However, for complex projects, with multiple developers – I wouldn’t rule out Redux just yet.
Redux
Sometimes using React Hooks is efficient enough, sometimes it is not. We can use context to share a global state (that we keep in a reducer) with multiple components. When the button is clicked, it triggers the dispatch function with the specified action type, which will be handled by the reducer function to update the state accordingly.
Nonetheless, React is quickly become a classic example of functional programming techniques, what with its’ pure components. All in all, an enjoyable technology to work with that brings some sanity to front-end user interfaces. Singletons are a code-smell that could indicate shared mutable state, which is the real anti-pattern. The state it cares about is shared between components, not localized to a single component, it’s persisted rather than ephemeral, and it potentially spans multiple page views or sessions. These are all things that local component state won’t help with unless you build your own state container library on top of the React API — and that’s a lot more complicated than just using Redux. It allows you to declare and set state variables in functional components, making it easy to handle component-specific data.
What do hooks give us?
You don’t always need Redux for every app, or every component. If your app consists of a single view, doesn’t save or load state, and has no asynchronous I/O, I can’t think of a good reason to add the complexity of Redux. In other words, Redux gives you code organization and debugging superpowers. It makes it easier to build more maintainable code, and much easier to track down the root cause when something goes wrong.
If the backend returns an HTTP success, the saga dispatches a success action. The success action causes a reducer to run which updates the value of the name in the store. To answer this question we will start with a simple todo app project using Redux and we’ll try to update it, to use the Hooks instead. If you decide to use the Hooks, you’ll not need to install any external libraries, and you can use `useContext()` to handle the global state of your application. As we learned above, hooks make it easier to encapsulate and share the logic.

Vue.js is smaller, and from what I saw (benchmarks) faster. React is more popular, and the adoption rate is much higher. So it would be easy for you and you wont reinvent the wheel again for mobile apps. But I’m personally using React, because React is changing the way I look at how JavaScript should be.
